As one of the foremost economies in the world despite the recession, Canada has become one of the best places that expats and other travelers go to in recent years. With the influx of immigrants, the economy continues to flourish. In order to keep up with the burgeoning economy, studying in Canada has become one way that new experts and workers easily provide the supply of warm bodies for the economic growth.
The land mass and geographic diversity of Canada has allowed it an almost unlimited supply of natural resources to fuel the continued growth and economic development. As the economy grows, the demand for expert skilled workers becomes greater and with a population that is slow to provide the experts, the government has turned to foreign workers and students to fill the need. That is why studying in Canada has become one of the worlds best locations to overcome the current financial crisis.
The other aspect of being educated in Canada is the high cost of matriculation and living expenses for its fruition. Not all educational institutions though have scholarships to provide deserving but financially handicapped students. To others given the opportunity to study, they need to find jobs to augment their finances to remain in school. And teaching in Canada has become one of the options for financial support in the country.
The problem though in pursuing teaching as a means of income in Canada is the lack of permanent positions available for anyone with the credentials to do so. In the highly urbanized areas of the country, there is an oversupply of teachers for the school system while there is a disparity when it comes to the more remote areas of the country. Since most of the higher educational institutions are located in the cities, teaching as a means of livelihood and a means of making school payments is not a viable option. The reality was portrayed in a post saying that “however, unlike countries such as the UK, the number of private schools in relation to the number of state schools is very low although with the expat community continuing to grow on an annual basis we could and should see an increase in the number of private schools in Canada.”
So in order to be able to continue studying in Canada, teaching should be one of the first to search for but least expected to bear fruit. Other job options need to be explored in order to be able to find funds for both schooling and everyday expenses. In fact, teaching in Canada is not one of the vocations that ranks in the summary of skilled workers required in Canada. There are many immigrants who have the necessary credentials who cannot find jobs within Canada that provide a venue to practice their pedagogical expertise.
So if you are studying in Canada and with the many other positions and professions in demand, you can find other means to eke out a living for your daily expenses. It is recommended though that you be on the lookout for teaching positions that open up, so long as you have the mandatory three years experience together with your education and other credentials. The ideal set up would be a student having a day job teaching but with the current climate, it is best that you seek other jobs while awaiting the ideal set up to materialize
